さて、何があったのか、みていきましょう。

とのことです。
話はそれて、少しビジネス言語に触れましょう。
日本でも最近CEO やCOOなど聞くと思います。ですが、「すごい役職なんだな」というのは解っても「何する人なんだろう？」となることも。
以下によくみる役職をまとめておきます。

会社の経営に関する全ての業務執行を統括する責任者。COO
Chief Operating Officer。最高執行責任者。
事業運営に関する業務執行を統括する責任者。
CEOの下で事業を統括する立場の役員をCOOとすることが多い。CIO
Chief Information Officer。
最高情報責任者。
経営戦略に沿ったIT技術に関する責任者。
社内システムに関することの責任者とすることもあれば、
CTOより上位の経営とIT技術全般に対する責任者とされることもある。CTO
Chief Technology Officer。最高技術責任者。
CIOと同義、もしくはCIOの下でIT技術に関する業務執行を統括する責任者とされる。CFO
Chief Financial Officer。最高財務責任者。
会社の会計的な業務執行を行う責任者。
ざっとこんな感じでしょう。
他にも、会社によって真ん中の文字が変わって役職を示す場合もあります。ビジネスでは上の役職が多いですが、もし見かけない役職が出れば、なんの権限があるか、はっきり聞いてみましょう。

ちょっと、小話。
googleを作ったのはラリー・ページさんです。有名ですね。そして大学在学中に共同でgoogleを作ったのがセルゲイ・ブリンさんです。彼らは最初は仲良くなかったものの、在学中に膨大なデータを瞬時に最適化する検索エンジンの開発や効率的なデータ蓄積に関心を持ち、休学をしてgoogleを作ります。そんな創設者の2人が2019年12月3日にgoogleを退任すると声明を出しました。時期は未定ですが、辞めちゃうんだそうです。
ですが、すっぱりやめると経済的な数字に大きく影響します。ということで、お二人はどんな辞め方をするのでしょう？

Sundar Pichai, the current CEO of Google and a longtime executive at the company, will take over as CEO of Alphabet in addition to his current role.The cofounders will continue to serve on Alphabet's board of directors. 「ページとブリンはAlphabet社それぞれのCEOと社長の座から退任する予定だ、と企業は火曜日に発表した。現在googleのCEOで長い間その会社で役員を務めているサンダー・ピチャイが今の役職に加えてAlphabet社のCEOを引き継ぐ。共同設立者らは引き続きAlphabet社の取締役会に出席する。彼らはまたビジネスに関する投票を管理し続けるが、全ては彼らの肩書きがあってもなくてもAlphabet社の方向性に影響する能力を持つことが保証され続ける。
"We've never been ones to hold on to management roles when we think there's a better way to run the company. And Alphabet and Google no longer need two CEOs and a President," they wrote in a letter.

The executive shuffle comes at a time when Google is facing mounting scrutiny. Regulators and politicians in the US and Europe have questioned the company's size, data privacy practices and potential impact on society. Page, once the face of the company, has largely receded from public view.

Last year, Bloomberg Businessweek published an article headlined "Where in the World is Larry Page?"

Pichai, who is known for his engineering talents and general likeability, took over as CEO of Google in 2015 as part of the company's broader corporate restructuring to create Alphabet. Prior that, Pichai had held a variety of roles at the company, including overseeing Chrome, product chief of Google and head of the Android operating system.
